TUTORIAL: How to use Navifirm to download firmware

Navifirm is one of the best utility that helps you to download Nokia firmware on your computer. Here, we are going to talk about it along with how to use it. Navifirm is a free utility created bySymbian Toys.

How to use Navifirm

1. Download and Install download and install .NET Framework v4.0 on your computer.

2. Now, Download Navifirm on your computer, and extract the file. After extracting you will get several files, in which you have to open NaviFirmPlus.exe.

3. Once NaviFirm opens, you have to set “Server: Nokia Care Suite”.

4. Now, you have to select your Phone Model under “Products” section.

5. Once you have selected your product it will automatically show the firmware releases for your mobile. Simply click on any of the stable release to continue.

6. Now, you will be able to see lots of variants available for your device (firmware according to country and your phone model). Simply click on any of the available variants to continue.

7. Under the Files section you will be able to see lots of files shown. If you will scroll the the filenames you will be able to see that few filenames are already marked (which is default and important files required to flash your phone). You have to click on Download button only.

If you want to download all filenames then click on the Mark All button, it will select all files. Then you can click on Download button to start downloading the firmware files.

8. Now, you will be able to see the downloading status in the Navifirm (right below).

Once firmware downlaoding is finished, you can see the download files under Navifirm Plus\Fw folder.

Now, you have downloaded the firmware to flash your Nokia Phone, you have to place it in the

• C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\ (for Windows 32 bit users)
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Phoenix\Products (for Windows 64 bit users)

Once you have located the files, you can use Phoenix and JAF tool to flash your phone.

2.If you facing update error when installing.Try this:
•Uninstall this entry from application manager “social installer”.Just uninstall this one.
3.But some time this error appear….”remove cancel”….don’t worry..try this step.. install this file.It will overite the existing one.After that you can try uninstall the “social installer” again….
4.Install the attached file and restart…

MOD: Fixed mail widget skin transparent by syarmwawa

Thanks to joshlog for his patch…without his patch i guess it will a pain to fixed it coz need flashing……i notice some of user even me after update to FP1 old mail widget skin no longer wotking….it strecth when apply…..i guess it becoz of different entry count in the .mif….today i use origional file from FP1 belle and edit it..and here is the result….i hope this fixed/new skin will also work for other user…

Transparent Profile Widget Multi Colour by syarmwawa = Will make your profile widget full transparent without background and change the font colour.

Profile Widget Multi Colour by syarmwawa = This SIS only change the font colour but not the background…the background will remain like skin you using…..you can get the skin like i’m using in screen from ZINOX custom skin thread….

Default Profile Widget = Will restore the original profile widget.

PS//makesure install to C and restart after installation….:)tested on 701 and C7…working perfect…

MOD: joshlog base mif patch – load mif files that stored on z from drive e

Hey mates,

here are my special mod for the most mif files that are stored on drive “z:\resource\apps”.

With this patch you can use modded mifs files (that originally stored on ROM drive) directly on drive e:.
Flash c2zbin and domain server for this will never more needed.

1. Copy all your *.mif files from ROM drive (z:\resource\apps) to (e:\resource\apps) -> approximately 8-9 MB without modded mifs.
2. Install my joshlog_patch.sis (or copy the extracted files from my joshlog_patch.rar archive into the appropriate folder -> if exists overwrite all)
3. Restart your Phone.
4. Now your mifs load from e:\resource\apps

Tested on my lovely N8 with avkon – email – splashscreen and many more mifs.
Have fun with this release.

4.Then change  C:/sys/bin/AknIcon.dll.old  to  AknIcon.dll
5.Restart your device.
THATS IT..New style works now..
